Thanks to FORB’s collaborative work with Kelly Simpson, senior ecologist with North Barker, walkers on Echo Sugarloaf Reserve may observe four areas of new plantings.
The plantings are of the endangered species Ozothamnus floribundus.

This species is considered at high risk due to its extremely small population size. It’s only known location is at Merchants Hill on the Channel highway (this is the Hill at the top of Randalls Bay Road).
Kelly (and previously Yanti) grew 120 plants from seeds and these have now been translocated to the Reserve with the goal of establishing a preservation population.

Nothing can be planted on the Reserve without PWS and NRE approval, these were granted.
We look forward to watching their growth.
